Research overview

The dynamics of TCR signaling 1) reflect the quality of TCR engagement, 2) depend on the current state of individual T cells, and 3) dictate its future fate. Our lab is interested in understanding the complex relationship between early TCR signaling and long term T cell fate. By monitoring the dynamics of T cell activation, can we predict the long-term fate of a T cell or the microenvironment in which it is activated? Similarly, can we manipulate TCR signaling to impart a specific fate to T cells for therapeutic purposes?

Combining advanced image analysis, computational tools and light-based cell manipulation, our lab is interested in answering outstanding questions in the field of T cell biology and immuno-oncology.

By combining high-throughput imaging, artificial intelligence, and assessment of T cell function, can we identify patients that will most benefit for adoptive cell therapies and improve adoptive cell therapies efficacy?

Using high-throughput, time-resolved, multimodal imaging of T cell activation, can we 1) evaluate the predictive power of T cell activation dynamics for determining complex T cell states and fates and 2) quantify the contribution of individual signaling pathways in shaping effector functions?

Investigating the functional heterogeneity of in vivo CAR transduced cells, can we discover novel biomarkers associated with improved therapeutic efficacy?

Using state-of-the art computer vision models and machine-learning architecture, can we predict the affinity of TCR for its cognate peptide at the single cell level?
